Traditional DC/DC power conversion is generally done in the analog domain. After the microcontroller is introduced, more and more DC/DC conversions are started in the digital domain. Digital control allows for greater flexibility in DC/DC power conversion, while analog control has the advantages of high efficiency and low cost. Combining the advantages and disadvantages of both, Microchip Technology Inc. (Microchip) has introduced the industry's first digitally enhanced power analog controller, the MCP19111, which extends Microchip's diversified intelligent DC/DC power conversion solutions. BryanJ.Liddiard, vice president of marketing for the emerging core power simulation and interface products division, told the reporter that the MCP19111 digital enhanced power analog series is the industry's first synthetic mixed-signal power management controller based on analog The PWM controller is integrated with a full-featured flash microcontroller (Figure 1). It features "simple part fast" transient response, eliminates the need for high MIPS MCUs, and eliminates the need for high-precision, high-speed A/D converters, saving cost and reducing IC power consumption. "The digital part is flexible", the on-chip compact low-power MCU can actively optimize the analog loop. The following advanced features are available to configure analog, communication interfaces and fully programmable MCUs to support custom IP. The MCP 19111 also integrates an LDO and MOSFET driver with a fully programmable MCU core. Built-in analog compensation optimizes efficiency, provides over-temperature/UVLO/OVLO protection, up to 15 general-purpose I/Os (with ADC), PMBu s / I2C communication interface, and supports custom IP/code. The MCP19111 digitally enhanced power analog family operates over a wide voltage range of 4.5V to 32V, providing significant flexibility compared to traditional analog-based solutions. This integration provides the flexibility of a digital solution with the speed, performance and resolution of an analog-based controller. The MCP19111 device supports operation up to 32 V and provides an integrated MOSFET driver configured for synchronous buck applications. When combined with Microchip's expanded high-speed MOSFET family, the MCP19111 is capable of driving customizable, high-efficiency power conversions (Figure 2).

BryanJ.Liddiard said: "The MCP19111 family enhances today's high-efficiency, analog-based power supply design capabilities, enabling a higher level of flexibility, optimization and integration, all in one very small size ( QFN 5mm x 5mm 28-pin. Wide range of operating ranges and integrated medium voltage synchronous drivers support high efficiency, high power density conversion with fast simulation-based control." BryanJ. Liddiard says MCP19111 breakthrough in integration This is also reflected in the fact that this single-chip solution reduces design complexity, reduces component count and shrinks footprint, and solves the big problem of introducing important configuration functions into analog controllers. The new high-speed MOSFET Bryan J. Liddiard stressed that 20 years ago, Microchip was known as a single-chip microcomputer. In the past 10 years, Microchip hopes to make breakthroughs in the microcontroller and analog markets. Also available with the MCP19111 are four new high-speed MOSFET driver products, MCP 87018, MCP 87030, MCP87090 and MCP87130, which expand the family of micro-core high-speed MOSFETs. These 1.8VΩ, 3mΩ, 9mΩ, and 13mΩ logic-level MOSFETs, each rated at 25V, are optimized for switching power supply (SMPS) applications. The MCP19111 digitally enhanced power analog controller combines with the extended MCP87XXX family of low quality factor (FOM) MOSFETs to create a fast, efficient power conversion solution that supports configurable for a wide range of consumer and industrial applications. Highly flexible, high efficiency DC/DC power conversion design. According to reports, these four new high-speed MOSFETs have a very low RDS (on), low Qg, which is the two most important indicators for professionals to select MOSFET devices, and optimized for 12V power conversion. The target application market for DC/DC power conversion products is primarily for computing (server, desktop and embedded controllers), consumer (set-top boxes, game consoles) and communications (network, telecommunications) markets. The MCP19111 evaluation board, which includes Microchip's high-speed MOSFETs, is available now. The EV kit uses standard firmware and can be configured through the MPLABXIDE graphical user interface (GUI) plug-in. The evaluation board, GUI, and firmware work together to allow the power supply designer to configure and evaluate the performance of the MCP19111 in its target application.
