ZTE will launch self-developed 4G terminal chip in September

According to reports from Mobile World Live, August 7th, Beijing time, ZTE said it will launch a self-developed 4G terminal chip in September, and emphasized that this "will become the industry's first chip to achieve 4G communication and data throughput standards. Foreshadowing a breakthrough in global 4G technology. "

ZTE did not provide more details. The chip will be announced at the 2013 China International Information and Communication Exhibition in Beijing.

Due to the increasing role of chips in the processor design process, ZTE is actively responding to the strategies of competitors including Apple and Samsung. Its domestic competitor Huawei also has its own semiconductor company-Hisilicon.

To date, ZTE has collaborated with multiple processor vendors on terminals, including Qualcomm, Intel and Nvidia.

According to statistics from Strategy AnalyTIcs, a US market research agency, ZTE accounted for 5% of the global smartphone market in the second quarter of 2013, with shipments of 11.5 million units.
