Since 2010, Verbatim's portfolio of high-performance LED lights has been increasing in the lighting market. In order to meet the market demand for LED lamps and thus closer to the characteristics of halogen lighting, Verbatim will launch a series of new LED products based on Seoul Semiconductor (SSC)'s "nPola" technology. Verbatim's first nPola LEDs will focus on the MR16 design, with the main goal being to replace the 50W MR16 halogen. With a combination of high-brightness output and the characteristics of a halogen-like beam, lighting designers and contractors will completely replace halogen lighting with high-performance, energy-efficient LED products that combine new design and retrofit environmental features. "nPola" uses a dedicated gallium nitride (GaN) substrate from the parent company of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation for the epitaxial growth of gallium nitride, thereby replacing the sapphire or silicon carbide substrate. Seoul Semiconductor's patented "nPola" structure minimizes defects in the active layer, making the current density of LED chips 5 to 10 times higher than conventional chips. Therefore, more than 5 to 10 times the luminance output can be achieved with the same chip size.
SSC and Verbatim will continue to work together to develop innovative LED lighting products.
Verbatim's use of nPola's LEDs will be available at the 2013 Japan Lighting Show from January 16 to January 18, 2013, and its mass production is expected to begin in March 2013.
Verbatim LED lights are suitable for lighting and electronic commerce channels.
About nPola technology
“nPola†is a unique patented technology developed by Seoul Semiconductor for more than 10 years. Minimize defects caused by lattice mismatch. Compared to traditional LEDs, nPola's lumen output is increased by 5 to 10 times over the same chip size.
