Of course, in addition to the efforts of radio and television, the other box telecom operators in the box market are also sparing no effort to promote IPTV + OTT mode products. They rely on the number of their broadband subscriber business users and the advantage of being able to view them live. While promoting their own products, they also sent IPTV+OTT boxes to your home. For example, China Unicom has upgraded its wisdom Wojia box, telecommunications have also intermittently promoted the Yue me box and so on. In fact, the telecom operators' IPTV + OTT products also have a competitive relationship with broadcasting and television, but the threat is not a big Internet box.

In short, Internet TV boxes have been seen as public enemies.



Should not use the internet box as an opponent

Actually, we can understand a series of measures that “the first to use policies to suppress and then try to improve itself” is that after all, the Internet box is a new thing. As a predecessor, the broadcasting and television industry has to be under the condition of having a huge user base and the right to speak. Overstepping or thoroughly iteratively losing face is small, and losing a job is not good.

I think that it is undoubtedly a bright avenue for Radio and Television to improve, and even catch up with the Internet. Selecting the DVB+OTT mode will not only expand its own strength in the fastest time, but it will also actively respond to the national triple play. However, unfortunately, from the perspective of the current existing products, the practice of broadcasting and TV is still somewhat conservative and open enough.

In the actual experience, you can see that although you can find an interface similar to the Internet box in the Gehua STB, and in addition to the live broadcast, you also have content resources such as movies and games, but when you actually use it, you will find that not only almost all Movie resources are charged content, and the overall speed is extremely slow, and the operation process is also more complicated. In fact, this situation also exists in the products of Tongzhou that we tested.

Obviously, under the general trend of triple play, whether Radio and TV broadcasts boxes carrying various Internet intelligent services as rivals or whether it is necessary to seek real partners to learn from each other has become the key to future development. Therefore, how to make good use of various resources and strengthen its own aspects in terms of content, value-added services, user experience, and so on for broadcast and television has become urgent.
