Keysight leads the development of 5G technology and introduces a new 5G channel detection reference solution

Keysight Technologies has introduced a 5G channel sounding reference solution to further establish its technological leadership in the field of 5G wireless technology research. The new reference solution is designed to accelerate the research of advanced millimeter-wave 5G channel models, including ultra-wideband and MIMO, both of which are key requirements for measuring millimeter-wave channels and validating new air interface standards.

New technologies supporting up to 10 Gbps air data rates are one of the requirements for 5G mobile broadband communications. To meet these requirements, technicians are developing new air interfaces for the 10-100 GHz operating band. The 5G channel sounding reference solution combines metering-level hardware, advanced software and expertise to enable customers to quickly characterize the channel characteristics of these bands and to enable researchers to develop the necessary channel models to design and validate candidate air interfaces.

Researchers can achieve very accurate absolute delay measurements with system-level calibration, precise timing, and synchronization. Test time and disk space can also be greatly reduced by using multi-channel, real-time data processing technology and channel impulse response data (CIR) correlation provided by the built-in FPGA of the M9703A high-speed digitizer. At the same time, engineers were able to calculate channel parameter estimates on the Keysight SystemVue system-level design and simulation software platform and perform link-level simulation and verification of the new 5G design using the imported channel model.

The Keysight 5G Channel Sounding Reference Solution also enables:

Transmitter/receiver testing up to 44 GHz for 4 or 8 MIMO channels using 1 GHz bandwidth

Capture multiple phase coherent channels for real-time CIR data processing in the FPGA

System level calibration and synchronization for precise timing and accurate measurements

Provides exceptional flexibility and scalability to provide more channel and test capabilities for the evolution of the 5G standard

Waveform customization and channel model extraction and system integration customization

The Keysight 5G Channel Sounding Reference Solution is available now. The solution is designed to meet specific test system requirements.
