Bluetooth low energy technology standard will be written into Bluetooth 4.0 specification

Bluetooth low energy technology standard will be written into Bluetooth 4.0 specification

The Bluetooth SIG Technology Alliance recently officially announced that it will adopt the Bluetooth low energy technology standard, which is mainly designed to improve the power saving performance of Bluetooth devices. To achieve the purpose of power saving, this technology uses a shorter burst of data transmission. The speed of Bluetooth data transmission is reduced to a maximum of only 1Mbps. Although the speed of the Bluetooth network supporting this technology is relatively slow, due to its excellent power saving performance, it is very suitable for portable devices that require battery replacement, such as certain After enabling this technology, battery-powered devices can be used continuously for several years without the need to replace the battery.

This new standard can be close to or better than the existing Bluetooth technology standard with higher power consumption in terms of data transmission performance. The transmission distance of its wireless signal can be increased to 328 feet, and the network latency is also lower.

The application prospect of this technology is very broad, suitable for various devices that need to achieve short-range wireless data transmission, such as pedometers, and can also meet the needs of wireless synchronization between computers and handheld devices.

The Bluetooth low energy technology standard will be added to the specification file as part of the Bluetooth 4.0 specification. The official version of the Bluetooth 4.0 specification is still in preparation. It is reported that the new standard can be deployed in existing Bluetooth facilities that support Bluetooth version 2.1 / 3.0 Currently, Nokia is one of the major behind-the-scenes promoters of the Bluetooth standard.

Electric Vehicle Battery Supply

Lithium-Ion Batteries
Lithium-ion batteries are currently used in most portable consumer electronics such as cell phones and laptops because of their high energy per unit mass relative to other electrical energy storage systems. They also have a high power-to-weight ratio, high energy efficiency, good high-temperature performance, and low self-discharge. Most components of lithium-ion batteries can be recycled, but the cost of material recovery remains a challenge for the industry. The U.S. Department of Energy is also supporting the Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling Prize to identify solutions for collecting, sorting, storing, and transporting spent and discarded lithium-ion batteries for eventual recycling and materials recovery. Most of today's PHEVs and EVs use lithium-ion batteries, though the exact chemistry often varies from that of consumer electronics batteries. Research and development are ongoing to reduce their relatively high cost, extend their useful life, and address safety concerns in regard to overheating.
