Are you ready for the LM-80 standard update?

Recently, Watson's because of a skin care product, and then fall into the "quality door." Watson's door was closed, and a few women's prints with facial edema and ulceration were attached to the door, and one of them was completely different. Saying that practice is the only criterion for testing truth, then detection is the only criterion for distinguishing between authenticity. As a manufacturer, have you done serious tests in the R&D and production process?

Not only does cosmetic production require constant testing, but so does LED lighting products. In the past two years, many Chinese LED companies have turned their attention to overseas markets. The export volume of LED lighting products is getting bigger and bigger, but they are also frequently subjected to mandatory recalls.

Where is the problem, where is the doctor, the quality is not enough, then it is restricted by the "standard".

The LM-80 standard is a document developed by the North American Test Procedures Committee Lighting Engineering Association (IESTPC). The goal is to provide consistent test methods for LED luminous flux and chromaticity change information, and to achieve reliable LED characteristics comparison when comparing products from different manufacturers.

The domestic packaging company Hongli Optoelectronics is particularly outstanding in product testing. Earlier this year, it announced that its COB LM004 series (80W) white light integrated package products obtained the IESNA LM-80 7000 hour test report from the third-party authority BACL.

In addition, Hongli Optoelectronics' COB LM004 packaged product has been applied for 10,000 hours of testing, and is expected to announce 10,000 hours of LM-80 test report in May.

Hongli Optoelectronics always insists on products that meet international standards. Wang Gaiyang, sales director of Hongli Optoelectronics, said, "LM-80 is a method for testing LED light flux in IESTPC in North America. The LM-80 standard can shorten the time required for product certification, and it is also a powerful guarantee for the quality of packaged products."

For users, LM-80 data is the key to assessing long-term light output changes. In order to avoid quality problems, more and more customers are now asking the factory to provide IES test reports for their products.

Not long ago, Jingrui Optoelectronics also announced that its high-power flip-chip products passed the 10,000-hour US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved third-party IES LM-80 test, and said that it will provide LM-80 10,000-hour test report according to customer needs.

Some companies also said that the LM-80 standard is only the lowest bottom line for packaging companies, and the standard update has little effect.

"The LM-80 standard update has no impact on the packaging products of Jingtai. The LM-80 is actually a test of the life of the product. It is a bottom line standard for lamp and luminous flux requirements. For products exported to the North American market, Indispensable links, but there is no clear requirement in the domestic market.” Shao Pengrui, technical director of Jingtai Co., told Gaogong LED.

The so-called state-owned country law, home has family rules, LM-80 standard as an industry norm, will undoubtedly play a role in monitoring and guiding the development of LED packaging. Similarly, the LED lighting industry can gradually mature and avoid the occurrence of “quality gate” events.
