Talking about the Linux program Orbital Apps open source program collection

Today, we need to understand Orbital Apps or ORB (Open Runnable Bundle) apps, a free, cross-platform collection of open source programs. All ORB programs are mobile. You can install them on your Linux system or USB drive so that you can use the same program on any system. They do not require root privileges and have no dependencies. All required dependencies are included in the program. Simply copy the ORB programs to a USB drive and plug them into any Linux system and start using them immediately. All settings and configurations as well as the program's data will be stored on the USB drive. Since there is no need to install the program on a local drive, we can run the application on a computer that is online or offline. This means we don't need the Internet to download any dependencies.

ORB programs are compressed by 60%, so we can even store and use them from small USB drives. All ORB applications are signed with PGP / RSA and distributed via TLS 1.2. All applications are packaged without any modifications or even recompilation. The following is a list of currently available portable ORB applications.

Download and use the removable ORB program

As I already mentioned, we don't need to install a mobile ORB program. However, the ORB team strongly recommends that you use the ORB launcher for a better experience. The ORB Launcher is a small installer (less than 5MB) that helps you launch an ORB program and get a better, smoother experience.

Let's install the ORB launcher first. To do this, download the ORB launcher. You can manually download the ISO of the ORB launcher and mount it on the file manager. Or run one of the following commands in the terminal to install it:

$ wget -O - https:// | bash

If you don't have wget, run:

$ curl https:// | bash

Enter the root user and password when asked.

That's it. The Orbit launcher is installed and ready to use.

Now go to the ORB Removable Program Download page and download the program of your choice. In this tutorial, I will download Firefox.

Once downloaded, go to the download location and double-click on the ORB program to launch it. Click Yes to confirm.

Again, you can download and run any program right away.

If you don't want to use the ORB launcher, set the downloaded .orb installer to the executable and double-click it to install it. However, it is recommended to use the ORB Enabler, which makes it easier and smoother to use the ORB program.

As far as the ORB programs I tested, they are open and ready to use. I hope this article is helpful. Today is these. Have a good day!
