During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, the development of Taiyuan’s power grid was unprecedented, with a total investment of 4.688 billion yuan. A 500-kilovolt transformer substation, five 220-kilovolt transformer substations were built, and 17 110-kilovolt power transmission and transformation projects were completed. At present, a network structure consisting mainly of 500 kilovolt ring networks, 220 kilovolt double ring networks and 110 kilovolt radiation networks has been formed in the Taiyuan area.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, Taiyuan Power Grid will, on the basis of a 500-kilovolt ring network, push the 500-kilovolt transformer substation into the urban load center; the 220-kilovolt power grid will aim to meet regional electricity demand and strengthen grids, forming a goal. "Move" shaped grid structure; 110 kV grid will continue to build to meet the "N-1" criteria (power system components in any independent components automatically removed after the failure, does not cause other lines to trip, resulting in user power outage) Electricity network, key areas to meet the "N-2" criteria.
