"EVE" Developers: Recovering Costs on VR by the End of the Year

At present, the high-quality game content of the VR platform is not much, but the "Star Wars: Valkyrie" developed by the CCP for Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR is definitely one of them. At the same time, CCP is still developing other VR games for these platforms. Despite this, few companies are able to make money on VR platforms that are still in their early stages, so when the CCP announced that they could recover costs by the end of the year, we were really surprised.

"We were fortunate to have achieved some success in the early days, so we immediately added additional input," said CPM game company CEO Helmer Peterson. "So we expect that by the end of the year, we will invest more in VR games. 30 million U.S. dollars, and we have found that we can achieve a balance of payments... We will be able to achieve this in a matter of months. To tell the truth, we are very proud.”

They were able to accomplish this mainly because they released "Star Wars Eve: Valkyrie" on the Rift platform, and also released "GunJack" on several platforms including Gear VR, Rift, HTC Vive and so on. The VR platform maintains close cooperation.

For now, CCP basically only focuses on the development of PC-side VR games. They probably invested 30% of the company's resources to develop VR games. After the launch of Google's Daydream platform and PS VR, they should increase their investment in this part, and the profits they can earn will be considerable.
